I'll start!! I'm Angelika. I knit, crochet and machine knit. I've owned my store since 1987, and been online with my store since 1995, www.yarn-store.com/. I'm a published hand knitter and machine knitter, but being a store owner, I manage business more than design. My favorite things to hand knit lately are scarves and hats because in the evening I'm tired and that's what brings me the greatest relaxation.

I'm Dorene. After not knitting for about 15 years (I worked with my hands and worried about carpal tunnel) I started up again. I learned continental a few years back and now I knit a lot with no more sore hand issues. My two favorites are cables and lace.

I don't see the button to post a new message so I will just use the reply button here to say that I have been knitting for many, many years off and on. I also love to crochet but it seems to be painful to my hands whereas knitting is not. Lately I have been making sweaters for myself and then branched out and made some short sweaters and hand warmers for friends for the holidays. I really like the idea of mitts and arm warmers. And I definitely want to do some more lace knitting (like cowls and shawls). I have made one lace shawl and it was fun. I volunteered at the Vogue Knitting Live in Los Angeles last year and had such a good time. I don't have a local group of knitters I can chat with so I look forward to that here. I am also on the Knitting Paradise web site and they are quite fine as well. Thanks for opening this up.

I'm going to post this here after accidentally posting in the machine knitters' thread...
Hi, I'm Erin. I love to knit and spin, and I can crochet (poorly). I'm pretty addicted to sock knitting these days, even though I live in Arizona, where I don't have that many chances to wool socks!
I love going to my local Stitch'n'Bitch meetup and I also run a knit/crochet club at the school where I teach.

Hi, I am a self taught knitter. I mainly knit scarves and shawls. I also crochet. I have made baby sweaters, but would like to branch out into adult sweaters. My main concern and what I hope to learn in 2013 is how to do cable knitting.

Hello, Phyllis! The buttons are sort of small but there should be one that says "new thread" if you have a topic you'd like to talk about.
I'm Henry! I haven't been knitting long but I've been exposed to it all my life. I like to do a new technique every project and never like to knit the same thing twice! (Surprising how I got through a pair of socks.)

I go by Traevynn in the virtual world (and on Ravelry!). I've knit for about 12 years and organize one of the largest knitting groups in Seattle. My favorite items to knit are gauntlets, shawls and Jayne Hats. Sock Summit and Madrona are my favorite fiber-based conventions and the Seattle to Portland Yarn Train is my second favorite activity.

And if your group is ever taking a field trip to Portland, please hit us up! We've had busloads stop by before. It's so much fun.

HIHI I go by Geri, and I am sorry about that username. I meant for it to Arcturas but somehow left off the A.
Anyway I have been a knitter since the late 70's, and I am a new spinner and weaver. Good to meet you all

I'm Nicole, and I started knitting in April of this year. I haven't quite found my niche, but I've been trying a bunch of stuff. Baby socks, a hoodie for my son, a cabled scarf, a slouchy hat, and four market bags. I started an Aran cabled afghan for my nephew and his new wife--in June.... lol I really love my cotton basketweave towels. I clean my counters and appliances with them all the time. I even made one into a sponge by just folding it into thirds and sewing it shut on the sides. Machine washable!

Hi, It's Sarah. I like to hand knit stuff for my kids (2 and 6mo). It's small enough that I can finish a project without getting side-tracked!
