I love squishy scarves, and here at the yarn store Henry does 2x2 rib scarves a lot! The other night I picked up a bulky yarn and cast on 66 sts (always a repeat of 4 sts, + 2 so the sides match). I wanted it wide because I use public transportation and walking for work. very mindless knitting! The perfect project to pick up and drop during Christmas Day.

I knit mostly hats because of the almost instant gratification. This year I'm going to try some new things. I've seen some beautiful crocheted afghans that I want to try. My brother visited me last year and was impressed by, of all things, my hand-knit washcloths, so I'm going to make him some. I rely on public transportation, too, so they are great projects to take with me.

Everyone loves those hand knit or crochet dishcloths! Even my Mom makes them for me.
For special gifts, we use Catania cotton. It is a fingering weight and makes beautiful cloths, towels and soap wraps. Wedding, house warming....any of you remember "Hope Chests" ??
