I think bigger is better when you're starting, because you can knit things faster, the first project I ever did was on US 13 needles with some bulky yarn. Just a straight garter stitch scarf - best way to learn imho

Good Morning. Just dropped in and found this. Thanks Angelika. I have been hand knitting for 59 yrs. A little crochet. and MK for 24 yrs. I have a yarn shoppe for 23 yrs. It is quiet this morning so I got to get on line. I have Christmas knitting to finish for family so better get at it. Have a Great Christmas and Holiday season.
